Ok got something real juicy for you today.
A major new study just dropped recently in one of the world's top medical journals, and the results are so powerful and so validating, that this was the obvious choice to share with you.
Published in JAMA Network Open, researchers followed 5,472 women for over 8 years. They were testing one thing: the association between muscular strength and mortality in women.
What did they find? (drumroll, pleaseβ¦.)
The women with the highest levels of strength had up to a 37% lower risk of dying from any cause during the study period.
Iβll wait here while that sinks in.
Not from a specific disease.
From everything.
Hereβs my favorite part – and if youβre not a huge cardio fan, youβll love this, too… This was true even for women who didn't meet the standard guidelines for cardio. (I actually like cardio but I LOVE strength training)
This is the ultimate, data-driven validation of what Iβve been shouting from the rooftops for years:
- Muscle drives health
- Muscle is the organ of longevity.
- Muscle is your motherfreaking metabolic shield!
Itβs literally your armor against the diseases of aging.
Please – Forget anything you've ever heard about how women should be skinny, should be small, that women donβt need muscles or it makes us look like men. OMFG.
This is about living every day with strength, energy, vitality, and confidence!
This is about moving into and through your later years with independence!
I have to tell youβ¦ just being able to do all the things with your body that you want to doβ¦ whether you're 30 or 90, itβs everything. You canβt imagine the things Iβve seen in the ER, how easily and quickly we lose our physical abilities when we donβt actively work to maintain muscle as we age.
Default is that we lose some of our muscle every year starting at age 30 unless we work to keep it. So donβt worry about getting bulky – just worry about keeping what you've already got!
The data here is crystal clear: The strongest women live the healthiest, the longest.
SO. Now that we're clear on that⦠What are you going to do about it?
