If you’ve felt like your body changed the rules on you somewhere in your 40s – like the things that used to work just… stopped – I want you to know something.

You’re not imagining it.

Your physiology changed. And once you understand what changed, you can work with your body instead of fighting it.

Here’s the deal. As estrogen declines through perimenopause and menopause, a few things happen at once. Your body becomes more insulin resistant, which makes it easier to store fat (especially around the middle) and harder to lose it. You lose muscle faster. Sleep and mood can get messed up. And the calorie-cutting, cardio-heavy approach that may have worked at 30 can actually backfire now – because it causes you to lose the very muscle you need to keep your metabolism happy and healthy and efficient.

But it’s not just this sad, bleak picture.

You have so much more control over all of it than you probably think. You really just need a different strategy – and the new strategy happens to be one that makes you stronger, not smaller. The same approach that fits your hormones now is the one that protects your bones, your brain, and your independence for the next handful of decades.

What works for you now:

  1. Build muscle. Strength training is the single most powerful counter to insulin resistance and muscle loss. This is your BFF now.

  2. Prioritize protein. It protects muscle, steadies blood sugar, and keeps you full with fewer cravings.

  3. Manage stress and sleep like they matter as much as “diet + exercise” – because they do.

This is not about depriving yourself or punishing yourself on the treadmill. This is about giving your body what it actually needs to thrive. Women are often shocked at how much better they feel once they stop fighting the old fight.

Now, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – this can all be done on your own! But… for those of you who want a clear, physician-built plan for your body, history, labs, experience, and goals… my Strategy Session is exactly that. Check it out here.
